How To Run A Successful Opportunity Meeting

Hey there. Hope all is well.

Yesterday I did a post on what to do when an opportunity meeting goes wrong. Check it out here if you missed it.

I'm sure that post helped out quite a few people; but it left me wanting to do an article on how to actually run an effective meeting. Because when it's all said and done; you've got to actually use those meetings to bring new reps in.

So... here are some things that I follow religiously whenever I do a business presentation for my opportunity. I really hope this helps.

1. Don't be late. Simple I know - but I can't tell you how many times I've seen guests arrive to a presentation 15 minutes early looking for the person that invited them. If your meeting starts at 7:30pm then be there for 7:00pm - 30 minutes early. Most of the time this will ensure that you at least arrive before your guests. Nothing looks worse to your guests than being late for the meeting you invited them to.

2. Edify the guest speaker. This means that whoever is doing the bulk of the presentation should get a VERY NICE introduction. Mention awards, past work experience, and even family backgrounds to give the guests more perspective.

3. Make sure videos and slides are cued. Fumbling with blank screens and loss of sound will simply make you look unprofessional. The way t be sure of this is to do practice runs.

4. No Drinking of Alcohol. I've seen intoxicated people sign up one day; then cancel the next.

5. End the meeting properly. Never ask questions like "So...what did you think?" after the meeting. I like to break the room up according to A) who's interested in getting started and B) who's got questions.

Also for closing meetings, I highly recommend Black Belt Recruiting by Mike Dillard. This course is what will really help you close meetings and answer those questions like "is this a pyramid scheme?" or "...how much money can I make?" Here's a link to the resource.

Of course there are many more tips I could give you - but I'm more than sure these 5 tips will help you greatly. If you can stick to these 5 tips - you'll be ok.

Good luck and all the best,,

Chuk.
