ISO 9000 Certification – What is it?

ISO 9000 is a family of standards for Quality Management Systems. ISO 9000 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. These authorities have the rights to change the some of rules as per the requirements over time.

A company or organization can publicly state that it is ISO 9000 Certified company , if it is confirm by ISO and have the ISO 9000 certification.

ISO 9000 is a complete quality control system recognized and respected throughout the world. It applies to all types of businesses irrespective of their size and final outcome. The ISO certification process starts with pre-assessment audits and passes through on-going maintenance. The ISO family includes four standards on quality management and quality assurance,

ISO 9000: 2000 (presenting fundamentals and vocabulary)

ISO 9001: 2000 (presenting quality requirements)

ISO 9004: 2000 (providing guidelines for performance improvement), and

ISO 19011:2002 (which is the auditing quality and environmental management systems).

These Quality certification can be obtained from ISO i.e International Organization of Standardization, ANSI i.e American National Standards Institute and from American Society of Quality (ASQ). Implementing ISO Quality management, quality assurance as well as principles contained in ISO 9000 helps the organizations to work on ISO 9000 standards and produced quality products.
